Revived Telltale Games Raises $8 million for First Titles

The Wolf Among Us 2 and another unannounced title will continue to be developed at Telltale Games thanks to the $8 million in funding the studio recently received. Telltale’s initial games will be made possible by the Series A fundraising round led by Hiro Capital and joined by Skybound Entertainment.

The original Telltale studio was reformed in 2019 after LGC Entertainment acquired its most valuable assets, trademarks, technology, and Intellectual Property (IP). Developer best known for episodic titles like The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, and the upcoming sequel to The Wolf Among Us.

In October 2018, Telltale shut down, laying off about 250 people and canceling several games, including The Wolf Among Us 2 and an unannounced Stranger Things game.

Respecting the Memory of Telltale

According to the reconstituted Telltale team, The Wolf Among Us 2 is still planned as an episodic season, but it won’t release episodes until after production.

Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie spoke about the fundraising round and expressed how happy the studio was to be associated with businesses who support “narrative games and transmedia entertainment.”

The Walking Dead was initially released through a collaboration between Telltale and Skybound, with Skybound having produced the game series since 2018.

According to Ottilie, the reconstituted firm is keen to demonstrate to gamers how it has upheld the history of Telltale and advanced the narrative genre. The Telltale CEO continued, “These investments will help us accomplish that ambition.
