Elden Ring’s long-awaited story expansion finally has a name: Shadow of the Erdtree, developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco.
A single piece of concept art depicting a pale man with long, blond hair riding a mount over a lonely, ghostly environment was made available by FromSoftware along with the announcement on the official Elden Ring Twitter account.

A distant Erdtree appears on its last legs, silhouetted against a foreboding sky. “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together,” the call to action says.
“An upcoming expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development. We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.”
No other information was provided in the statement, including a release date or specifics about the upcoming expansion.

The official Japanese site for the game states that Shadows of the Erdtree will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC through Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions of the original game.
Bandai Namco announced this week, just in time for Elden Ring’s first release anniversary on February 25, 2022, that the game has sold 20 million copies worldwide.
