Who Was Vetri Duraisamy?
On February 4, 2024, the news of Vetri Duraisamy’s disappearance came to light when the son of former Chennai mayor’s son Vetri visited Himachal Pradesh for a vacation. Shockingly, Vetri was pronounced missing after his car which he was traveling with his friends met with an accident and fell into the Satluj River.
Himachal Pradesh police recovered the dead body of a friend and other critically injured but Vetri remained missing because he was nowhere near the car plunged into the Satluj River. According to the reports, the son of the former Chennai city mayor was on his way to Shimla from Kaza when the accident occurred. The department of Himachal Pradesh launched a search operation in a bid to find Vetri. The operation was underway for many days as they looked for the survivors of the road incident.
The son of Saidai Duraisamy was found eight days after the accident on February 12, 2024. But nobody had expected that the search for Vetri would come to an end in that way. In a shocking turn of events, Vetri Duraisamy’s body was recovered from the river which sent shock waves across social media and prompted top actors in the Tamil film industry to mourn his passing. According to the reports, the dead body of Vetri Duraisamy was brought back to Chennai on February 13 following a post-mortem process.
Upon the arrival of Vetri Duraisamy’s dead body in Chennai, actors like Ajith Kumar, Kamal Hassan, and Shalini paid tribute to Vetri. Legendary actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to share his condolences with the grieving family. However, he penned the post in Tamil dubbed as, “The news of the death of Vetri Duraisamy, the son of former Chennai Mayor and friend, Saidai Duraisamy, is deeply saddening. It is an unimaginable grief that a young man who was just starting met his end in such an accident. My heartfelt condolences to the father who has lost his son. I hope he recovers from this soon.
Notably, actor Ajith Kumar visited Vetri Duraisamy’s residence with his wife Shalini to mourn his death. Actor Ajith Kumar and former director Vetri Duraisamy were good friends. Ajith Kumar also attended the wedding ceremony of Vetri several years ago. Vetri was born on February 16, 1978. He was 45 years old at the time of his demise.
