WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Were Down In UAE

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, users from UAE took to social media to report issues they were facing while using WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. According to the reports, UAE users were facing several issues while they were sending messages on WhatsApp. It was reported users on both the WhatsApp mobile app and WhatsApp web were facing the same issue on Saturday. According to the reports, the spotty connection on WhatsApp was mainly faced on WhatsApp web however, some users also reported the same issue with the mobile application. The issue was resolved within one hour after it was reported. Reportedly, WhatsApp started operating normally again at around 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023. But the other two Meta social media apps Facebook and Instagram were not fixed simultaneously. As per the reports, users of WhatsApp in the United Arab Emirates faced issues while sending messages from both mobile and desktop WhatsApp, on Saturday morning, October 14, 2023. Later UAE users also struggled while using other Meta platforms, Facebook and Instagram, with the same problem. Explaining the issue faced by Whatsapp users in UAE, messages were being delivered with only one gray tick mark, while those using WhatsApp web had been logged out. However, a few minutes later text messages started going through on the mobile app, but WhatsApp web remained down. Downdetector.com, a monitoring platform, reportedly witnessed a sudden surge in users reporting issues with WhatsApp on Saturday morning before 11 a.m. For nearly one hour, WhatsApp remained down, according to Downdetector.com. The spike in the number of people reporting issues was also seen for Facebook from 11.11 a.m., Messenger from 11.14 a.m., and Instagram from 11.12 a.m. Until past 2 p.m., Facebook and Instagram apps started operating normally (though slow for some) but the sites were not loading on desktop browsers.
