SC Restores Charges Against Latha Rajinikanth

As per the report, the apex court ruled superstar Rajinikanth’s wife Latha to seek the trial court, after considering a petition to challenge the judgment of the Karnataka High Court. SC asked Latha to seek trial after restoring the criminal charges of forgery and cheating. Reportedly, the restoration of criminal charges against Latha Rajinikanth happened after Ad Bureau Advertising Pvt Ltd based in Chennai filed a petition with the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement of the Karnataka High Court which had quashed the cheating case against Latha Rajinikanth.

The apex court ruled, “Accordingly, the SLP(Crl) No. 9818/2022 and SLP(Crl.) No. 8327/2022 is disposed of by restoring the final report filed. However, liberty is granted to the petitioner(s) in SLP(Crl.) No.8327/2022 to file an appropriate application, if so advised, seeking discharge. We make it clear that if such application is filed on behalf of the petitioner(s), the findings rendered under the impugned order will not stand in the way, and the Trial Court is directed.” Furthermore, the court ruled the petitioner and accused to stand dispensed with until and unless the same is required by the Trial Court.

According to the reports, earlier the court of the opinion passed the order on July 10, 2018, in Criminal Appeal. The High Court of Karnataka located in Bengaluru, passed the impugned order dated August 2, 2022, which was challenged by both the contesting parties. The Karnataka High Court had given some relief to Rajinikanth’s wife when the court quashed the cheating charges against her earlier in August. But the court maintained the forgery cases against Latha. She also challenged the HC decision in the Supreme Court. Stay tuned to this website.
