Unlocking the Sims 4 Infant Update: A Comprehensive Guide To Learn What’s New!

Your Sims babies no longer have to sit around like little potatoes until they reach the Toddler life stage. The base game of The Sims 4 finally has babies thanks to a new update.

It’s not every day that a whole new life stage is added to The Sims 4, so on this page of The Sims 4 guide, we tell you when the Infant update will come out, as well as what content and features will come with your new family member.

Sims 4 Infant Update Details

The Sims 4’s base game got the update for babies on March 14, 2023. Infants are a new life stage that will be added before your Sims become toddlers.

With this update, your Sims will be able to talk to Infants in a useful way. Sims will be able to pick up and hold your Infant Sims, feed and breastfeed them, bathe them, and play with them.

Do you know that The Sims 4: Growing Together is the newest expansion pack? It came out with the free Baby update for The Sims 4: Base Game. If you want to know when Sims 4 Growing Together will come out, you can check out our coverage:

Your Sims can also pick up and hold Infants while doing other things. If the baby starts to cry, the baby will be taken care of automatically, making the game much easier to play. Things are going to get messier and more out of hand around here.

Infants have a small set of animations and visuals that make them stand out from Toddlers and Children. In a recent Behind the Sims live stream from the official The Sims YouTube channel, the team behind The Sims 4 teased footage and shared some insights into the process of bringing the Infant life stage to fruition.

From this, we can learn a little bit about how Sims might be able to interact with Infants in The Sims 4 Infant update:

  • Science has made it possible for adult sims to have babies. Now, they can ask other people to use a mix of their DNA to make a new life.
  • Sims will be able to stand up or sit down while holding an Infant.
  • Sims can talk to Infant Sims and interact with them in various ways.
  • Sims can nurse (including bottle feed and breastfeed) and feed Infants.
  • Sims can pass an Infant to another Sim.
  • Sims will be able to pick up and put Infants into their crib.

In Create a Sim, you will also be able to change everything about your Sims’ babies. You can expect to see a lot of clothing options for your Infants, and you’ll be able to change even small things like their teeth and birthmarks. Your little one will be able to wear bucket hats, helmets, dress shirts and tuxedos, onesies, and dresses.

There will be a full range of skin tones, eye colors, and more for newborns. This means that your Sims can be customized even more, no matter how old they are.
