Shraddha Kapoor To Appear Before ED

Enforcement Directorate summoned actress Shraddha Kapoor in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. According to the reports, the actress is likely to appear before the ED on Friday, October 6, 2023, i.e., today. However, Shraddha Kapoor is not the only A-list actor who was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on suspicion of Mahadev betting app case as Ranbir Kapoor was also asked to appear before the ED. However, Ranbir Kapoor requested the ED to allow him one week time for interrogation as some important work is pending for him.

Saurabh Pandey who is the lawyer of the Enforcement Directorate, said Mahadev app is a betting portal and it is a case of money laundering. Raipur ED office started the probe and four people were arrested. As the probe proceeded further, the names of many people came to light, and we issued summons to a few people. Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor’s name has also come up so we issued a summon under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), he didn’t appear today but through email, he requested one week time. We will see what needs to be done further”.

What is Mahadev Betting App Case?

Earlier this year a grand marriage ceremony took place in UAE that caught the attention of the ED. The department was suspicious that the entire money-around Rs 200 crore spent on the ceremony was paid in cash. One of the promoters of the Mahadev Online Book Betting app Sourabh Chandrakar reportedly booked private jets to ferry family members to the UAE and paid A-list celebrities of Bollywood to perform in the ceremony. In addition, Ranbir Kapoor also allegedly promoted the Mahadev betting app. Reportedly, other celebrities are also suspected in this case.
