Amid the war between Israel and Hamas, a big statement came from Russian President Vladimir Putin about the US policy. Russia Criticizes US Policy Failure for War
Putin’s spokesperson further added to caution that the war had the potential to spread to other Middle East countries. Putin criticized the US Policy for its stance on the war in the Middle East region by saying it can lead to a considerable increase in violence. This startling statement from Putin came during Russia’s talk with Iraq. During the talks with Iraqi PM Mohammad Shia Al-Saudani, Putin said, “I think that many people will agree with me that this is a vivid example of the failure of United States policy in the Middle East,”
The Russian President asserted that the US had aimed to “monopolise” the initiatives for establishing peace. He went on to criticize the US Policy for not actively pursuing viable compromises. “The United States had neglected the interests of the Palestinians, including their need for an independent Palestinian state.” However, there was no reference to the involvement of Russia in the process of peace in the Middle East. Alongside the US, the UN, and the EU, Russia has been a part of the Quartet since 2002.
Peskov who is the spokesperson for the Kremlin said Russia took part in various diplomatic initiatives but there had been limited advancement in these initiatives. He further added, “But nevertheless we intend to keep making efforts and play our role in terms of providing assistance to seek ways to a settlement,” The Kremlin also targeted a balanced approach emphasizing its relations with Israel and Palestine. For the unversed, Russia used Iranian drones in the war with Ukraine and it has longstanding allies with the Palestinians including the Hamas group.
