Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment in February 2016, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows (via Steam) users can get their hands on Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, which is known in Japan as Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Storm 4 Hepburn: Naruto Shippuden: Narutimetto Sutmu 4.
Based on the book by Masashi Kishimoto, this game is the sequel to 2013’s Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst and the sixth and final main edition in the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. The plot centers on the teenage ninja Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha as they fight alongside one another against the terrorist group Akatsuki in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
The game employs normal fighting mechanics, like Storm 3, but allows players to freely swap between a squad of three fighters who can aid each other in battle.

Other recurring features include boss battles with accompanying quick-time events necessary for accessing cutscenes and bosses. Currently in development is an expansion dubbed Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – Road to Boruto, which was released alongside three previous games in the series as Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy in August 2017.
It includes the adult versions of the younger warriors and new characters introduced in the 2015 film Boruto: Naruto the Movie. Over the course of two years, the game was made on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. CyberConnect2 expanded upon its predecessor by making use of the hardware’s capabilities in order to include additional battle mechanics and characters.
According to Metacritic, the game garnered mostly positive reviews, with praise going to the game’s story and visuals but the criticism being split on the game’s length and the complexity of its controls. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – Road to Boruto was ported to Nintendo Switch in April 2020. By March 2022, the total number of copies sold was 10.7 million, and that number included Road to Boruto.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Gameplay
Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 continues the series’ tradition of pitting players against one another in 3D arenas. Players once again have the option to wall-run, a mechanic that had been removed from Ultimate Ninja Storm but is again back in the sequel.
The ability to have one character on the wall and the other on the field is a significant improvement; formerly, both players had to be relegated to the wall to maintain a steady flow of fight and system stability. The game features the most playable characters in the franchise.

There are 106 characters to choose from, all hailing from the world of Naruto, and some of them are duplicates, such as Naruto (Part 1) and Naruto (Six Paths Sage Mode). Players will be able to take control of characters from both Boruto: Naruto the Movie (2015) and The Last: Naruto the Movie (2014). The game features almost a hundred unique playable characters.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Plot
At the story’s beginning, Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, the two protagonists, fight to the death over who will become the leader of Hidden Leaf Village. After several years, during the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto Uzumaki reveals that the villain heading Akatsuki is Obito Uchiha, the best friend of Naruto’s mentor, Kakashi Hatake, who was previously thought to be dead.
Together with his comrade Madara Uchiha, Obito reawakens the mythical Ten Tails beast to fight off Shinobi soldiers. Sasuke Uchiha, ever the rebel, is troubled by his animosity toward Hidden Leaf Village and decides to investigate its history by resurrecting the former leaders of Konohagakure, the Hokage.
Sasuke’s team and the resurrected Hokage help Naruto when the latter’s group convinces them that Itachi Uchiha and the original Hokage, Hashirama, battled to preserve the village at all costs.
