Before proceeding to her murder case and the circumstances surrounding her death, we should talk about the victim. Polly Klaas was a 12-year-old girl living in Fairfax, California. She was born on January 3, 1981, to her parents, father Marc and mother Eve Nichol. Polly Klaas also has a brother named David. A service was held in memory of 12-year-old Polly Klaas, where Senator Dianne Feinstein said, “To the nation, Polly is the symbol of every family’s nightmare. It tells us something about the awful brutality of the world.” Some words were also delivered by Polly’s family during the ceremony. They said, “Our dream is to save a child and show the world that the power of love can triumph. She was a vibrant, energetic, outgoing little girl with a great love of theater and a great love of family. I wanted to give meaning to Polly’s death and I wanted to create a legacy in her name. I am not going to let my daughter’s death be in vain.”
