The bogus doctor, Matthew Lanig, appeared on Metro FM on Monday night when he admitted that he handled patients for various ailments including bronchitis, HIV, stabbings, and Tuberculosis. During the interview on Metro FM, Matthew Lani added that he served for two years at the Helen Joseph Hospital where he cured a lot of patients. The bogus doctor maintained that he obtained a medical degree lawfully throughout the interview, despite the mounting evidence against him.

He was interviewed by Metro FM Talk host Faith Mangope who also welcomed Dr. Foster Mohale of the Department of Health and the Health Professions Council of South Africa’s Dr. Sizeka Maweya on the podcast show. For the unversed, Matthew Lani created headlines and caused a stir in Mzansi when he carved a niche for himself by dispensing medical advice and content to his followers on social media. On the podcast show, Matthew Lani claimed he obtained his medical degree from the Witwatersrand University and he studied at Cambridge International College.

Notably, both institutions have denied Matthew Lani’s claims and said he never has been a student there. In addition, the Health Professions Council of South Africa also asserted that Matthew Lani is not on the country’s register of health practitioners. Meanwhile, a case of identity theft against him was filed at the Thembisa police station when the Gauteng Health Department levied an allegation against him. Later, he was arrested when he entered the Helen Joseph Hospital. Mabund, Matthew Lani’s advocate, said he made videos for TikTomk but he is not a real doctor.
