In the current update for Hogwarts Legacy, the portrait of Wendelin the Weird in Hogwarts castle now moves. Hogwarts Legacy was released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X for the first time in February of this year, so the animated portrait has been absent for months.
Since most of the pictures in Hogwarts Legacy move and are animated in some way, fans have always found it strange that the portrait of Wendelin the Weird didn’t. In the patch notes for the latest Hogwarts Legacy update, there was a small note that the VFX for the picture of Wendelin the Weird had been fixed.
Even though this isn’t a huge change in the big scheme of things, the Hogwarts Legacy community definitely noticed it. Chemical-Schedule548 shared a video of Wendelin the Weird’s new animation on Reddit, and many people said they liked the change.

Some commenters didn’t even know that the picture wasn’t animated before, while others have been bothered by it since Hogwarts Legacy first came out. Wendelin the Weird will always be alive, it seems, in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy for people who just started playing the game.
Hogwarts Legacy for PS4 and Xbox One came out on May 5, along with a big new update for the game. In addition to adding VFX to Wendelin the Weird, the update made a number of other changes to Hogwarts Legacy. For example, it fixed some bugs that had been affecting the game. One of the worst was a bug in Hogwarts Legacy for the PS5 that made players’ clothes always dirty for no reason.
It’s possible that Avalanche Software has even more changes for Hogwarts Legacy coming in the coming months, but we won’t know what they are until later. Fans already know that Hogwarts Legacy is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 25, so if a new update is coming, it seems likely that it will come around that time like the last one did with the PS4 and Xbox One ports.
Many fans thought that Hogwarts Legacy wouldn’t work well on PS4 and Xbox One because they didn’t have as much power as the next-generation consoles. However, the huge open-world game has been doing surprisingly well on those consoles.
Fans are more optimistic about the Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy now that they’ve seen how well it works on PS4 and Xbox One. When it comes out in July, it should also have a Wendelin the Weird portrait that works precisely. Hogwarts Legacy is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. On July 25, a version of Switch will be released.
