The National Center for Seismology has claimed that in the early hours of 8th October 2023, Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman Sea. This earthquake occurred at around 03:20 am and it has been recorded that this earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. As per the reports, at the start of September, there was two earthquakes of magnitude 4.4 and 4.3 occurred in the Andaman Sea. The 4.4 earthquakes occurred at a depth of 93 km and the earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred on 12 September 2023 at around 3:39 Indian Standard Time (IST), Lat: 6.19 & long: 95.31, Depth: 93 km, region: Andaman Sea. NCS revealed that the earthquake of magnitude: 4.3 occurred on 3rd September 2023 at around 15:29 Indian Standard Times (IST), Lat:9.97 & Long: 93.06, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Andaman Sea. It has been claimed that the powerful magnitude of the 6.3 earthquake was followed by a strong aftershock that took the lives of dozens of people in western Afghanistan on 7th October 2023, Saturday. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, around 320 people were killed because of the earthquake. The local authorities have claimed that around 100 people have died and 500 people have been injured. It has been updated that 456 houses have been destroyed and 135 houses have been damaged. It has been claimed that some people have been trapped under the collapsed buildings so the authorities are currently searching for them.
