ADIA to invest in Reliance Retail Ventures, Invests ₹4,967 Cr

There is big news in the business market right now. This time the ADIA has doubled down on Reliance Retail. The investment of ADIA has valued RRVL at Rs. 8.38 billion which has made it one of India’s top four most valuable companies. On 6th October 2023, Friday, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) said that the sovereign wealth fund Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) is going to invest an additional Rs. 4,966.80 crore. It is going to be till the retail unit of Reliance Industrial Ltd has followed a 1.18% purchase of the stake in the company in 2020, October.  The new investment has been valued at Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) at the pre-money equity value of a total of Rs. 8.38 trillion. It is making India in the top four most valuable companies. As per the investment of ADIA, the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) Rs. 8,278 crore investment into the RRVL in August 2023.

ADVL investment is going to translate into an equity stake of a total of 0.59% in Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) on a diluted basis. All this has been said by the company on 6th October 2023, Friday. According to the source in 2020, the ADIA is a wholly owned subsidiary that has promised to invest Rs. 5,512 crore in RRVL. At the time between 2020 to 2021, the company has totally raised a total of Rs. 47,265 crores from nine global investors which include sovereign wealth fu  Mubadala Investment Co., private equity firm General Atlantic, TOG Capital, Public Investment Fund, GIC, Silver Lake Partners, Investment firm KKR, SLP Co-investiors, and the ADIA at a pre-money equity value of Rs. 4.21 trillion.

According to the source, now the investors hold a total of 12.88% stake in the company. Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) now spans consumer electronics, footwear, online commerce, jewelry, apparel, and grocery retail. All these are dominating the country’s retail landscape. The subsidiaries and associates of RRVlk are operating the integrated omnichannel network over the 18,500 retail stores now and also the digital commerce platforms. This time the RRV is reporting revenue of Rs. 2.6 trillion and it has a net profit of Rs. 9,181 crore in FY23.
