Valorant Lotus Map: Lotus, the ninth map in Valorant, has been announced by Riot Games after a week of teasers and a cinematic trailer.

The new map takes place in the Western Gnats, a range of mountains in western India that stretches parallel to the coast.

Lotus, a lost city full of Indian influences and rock-cut architecture, can be found smack in the middle of the mountain range.

Valorant’s Lead Artist Brian Yam says the Map Design team aimed to give players an “Indiana Jones moment” with the map’s fantastical and mystical aesthetic.

There will be three new map mechanics and three new spike locations in Lotus

Only the Act I map of Episode 6 features the game’s first-ever rotating doors, destructible door/wall, and silent drop. For even more difficulty, Lotus will also have three spike sites, something that was previously only available at Haven.

Joe Lansford, Valorant‘s Map Design Lead, explained, “We wanted to make another 3-site map and show that this is more of a format we’ll keep using than just a single map.” The other goal was to create a map where both teams had a lot of freedom of movement.

While Yam remarked, “Our past maps are mostly urban or had modern architecture,” Lotus is meant to be a departure from those. Yam elaborated, saying, “We wanted to explore the theme of grand adventure, mysteries lost to time, and a forgotten ancient structure.” “We drew some thematic inspiration from Indiana Jones.”

The map also includes a mystical legend about some Radianite artifacts. One of the relics, as described by Yam, is the enormous mutated lotus found in the map’s focal point. Due to its innovative design and contribution to the game’s canon, fans of Valorant will be eager to explore every corner of Lotus.

Yam speculated that the ancient people who left these artifacts were using them to turn the stone doors on the map. Additionally, we experimented with the concept of using mutated plants to store and distribute energy produced by Radianite.

“The New Year is a time for family and friends to get together, and Valorant’s Good Fortune spray and New Year’s Knot buddy are perfect for doing just that,” said the producer of Valorant.
