On Monday, November 27, 2023, Tendai Biti blamed activists linked to party president Nelson Chamisa for creating a parody on social media to link him to a self-imposed interim secretary general. This news came after the allegations of a web of sell-outs within the opposition party and senior officials were accused of trying to part the party. Meanwhile, the CCC vice-president came in contact with the media following a parody shared on X formerly Twitter in Sengezo Tshabangu’s identity to claim that he met him to discuss the party issues.
He said, “I’m not interested. That account must be a parody account that was created by Chamisa and his team. Just check it. I have not met Tshabangu and let me repeat that I am not interested,” But the parody claimed that Biti met Tshabangu at a luxurious hotel in Harare. The viral tweet reads, “Just after my interview on ZBC, I had dinner with one of our decorated change champions and learned man Hon Biti at Crowne Plaza, as he is a victim of dictatorship, we deliberated on pertinent issues that will add value to our struggle for democracy, constitutionalism, and transparency.”
Khaliphani Phugeni who is the spokesperson for Tshabangu, also called the viral tweet fake. He added, “I would think it’s a fake account” This news came up following Denford Ngadziore who is a Harare councillor blocked former mayor Jacob Mafume from entering a councillors’ caucus meeting held before the election of Lovejoy Chitengu at Town House. Promise Mkwananzi who is the spokesperson for CCC also denounced Tshabangu as a Zanu PF impostor.
