When Can We Expect Ted Lasso Season 3 Release Date?

Ted Lasso Season 3 Release Date: Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly created the American sports comedy-drama series, Ted Lasso. It’s based on the same name character Sudeikis played in a series of commercials for NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage.

To get back at her ex-husband, the English soccer team’s owner hires Ted Lasso, an American college football coach. Despite his inexperience, Lasso tries to win the English market with his folksy, upbeat attitude.

Season one, which consists of ten episodes, debuted on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020, with three episodes, and subsequent episodes will air weekly. Its second season premiered on July 23, 2021, with 12 new episodes. The series was picked up for a third season in October 2020.

The series has been well received by critics, who have praised its humor, writing, themes, and upbeat tone, as well as the performances of Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein, among others.

Its first season was nominated for a record-breaking twenty Primetime Emmys, making it the most Emmy-nominated comedy of all time. The series, starring Jason Sudeikis, Tom Waddingham, and Jeremy Goldstein, was named the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Comedy Series.

In addition to the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, Jason Sudeikis took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy.

Ted Lasso Season 3 Release Date Speculation

Dates have not been set. The premiere of Season 3, consisting of 12 episodes, was initially scheduled for the fall of 2022, but it has been pushed back due to the reasons stated above.

According to Puck, Season 3 will premiere in the late winter/early spring of 2023. However, even this broad release window is subject to change. Apple TV+ is notorious for breaking from the norm regarding streaming service rollouts, so all we can do is cross our fingers and hope it arrives before May 31st.

Otherwise, they’ll miss out on Emmy eligibility. That long of a wait is entirely unacceptable. The series has won multiple Emmys, but there have been rumors that Season 3 will be it’s last. Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence, among others, have confirmed to Deadline that Season 3 will be the last.

Nevertheless, in an interview with Deadline, Lawrence left the door open for more Ted Lasso. The co-creator has stated that “even if Ted Lasso goes on,” the story the writing staff has been telling for the first three seasons has a beginning, middle, and end. And then it could go in a different direction.

It all comes down to Sudeikis, who seems to be leaning toward a three-and-out rather than renewing the show beyond the upcoming season. When asked about the speculation that this is the final season, Hannah Waddingham said, “I don’t know why that’s come out so fervently because we don’t know that for definite.”

After that, she said, “Even if we left it at this, Jason has pointed out that that’s where we leave (the characters) for now… and that’s how I’m going to have to think about it. Otherwise, I’m going to be a terrible mess.” Indeed, Hannah, it’s the same.

Ted Lasso Season 3 Cast

Even Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso, is on that list. In addition to Hannah Waddingham’s return as Rebecca, everyone’s favorite business is dynamo Keeley (Juno Temple). All of AFC Richmond’s original cast members, including Higgins (Jeremy Swift), Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster), Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), and Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), will return.

Even though Nick Mohammed’s Nate has moved from Nelson Road to the Olympic Stadium in his new role as West Ham’s manager, he will undoubtedly play a significant role in the upcoming campaign.

Any football fan knows that players come and go at will. Sam (Toheeb Jimoh), Isaac (Kola Bokinni), and Dani Rojas, among others, would be welcome to return for a third season with AFC Richmond (Cristo Fernandez).

Ralph Mannion, played by Anthony Head, is Rebecca’s ex-husband and the new owner of West Ham. He may play a more significant role this season than in the past as tensions between the two clubs continue to rise on the field and in the boardroom. With his newfound independence, Trent Crimm is likely negotiating several book contracts.

Jodi Balfour, formerly of For All Mankind, is the show’s newest cast member. According to Deadline, she will play Jack, a “charming venture capitalist.” With Nate now firmly rooted at West Ham, we can anticipate a corresponding increase in the ensemble size.

Even though there has been no official announcement, there is a good chance that AFC Richmond’s Premier League opponents will be getting some new faces.

Ted Lasso Season 3 Story

The second season concluded with Ted’s professional success but his failure. Despite his success in returning AFC Richmond to the big time (and to the FA Cup semi-final, no less), he had to say goodbye to his longtime faithful Diamond Dog Nate.

Much of the conflict this season will stem from the breakdown of that friendship and Nate’s new position at West Ham. Actor Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate, recently told the BBC that the redemption arc of his character is anything but routine.

A redemption arc for Nate may be what Ted Lasso’s viewers are hoping for, and he admits as much, saying, “I think it would be nice to see one.” He might be the only character they don’t redeem, but I can also see the writers thinking, “no, we’re going to turn it on its head,” as they did in season 2, playing against everyone’s expectations.

On a more general level, the coming events will center around the conflicting themes of professional success and personal turmoil. Keeley may have moved up the corporate ladder by becoming the head of a new public relations firm. Still, she left Roy for a surprise vacation, jeopardizing their relationship.

Meanwhile, Sam’s maturation following his brief relationship with Rebecca continues. Besides working at AFC Richmond, he’s planning a new business. It’s possible that Rebecca will try to find a permanent residence as well. The loss of her father and several one-night stands colored her second season.

What are the chances that the fandom’s hopes for a Ted/Rebecca relationship will start to blossom soon? When the new season begins, we’ll have our answer. Actress Hannah Waddingham has confirmed to Deadline that Season 5 will feature more of the original boss from Season 4.

If we run into Rebecca again, she’ll be a badass chick, Waddingham assured us. “She’s the ultimate badass b*tch and then some. She is present solely of her own volition, which is a welcome development. She’s the team’s captain, so naturally, she wants what’s best for the players.”
