Times Music acquired the music rights for the film. The first single from the film, “Azhagai”, was released on 9th September 2023.

Logesh Balachandran from The Times of India rated the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, commenting that the “director’s decision to make all the losses personal to the protagonist doesn’t work much and only turns it into a common narrative”. P Sangeetha from OTTPlay gave the film a rating of 2 out of 5 stars, stating that “Director Ahmed’s Iraivan is full of heavy-duty violence and gore that gets tiring after a point. The thriller is let down by a weak screenplay that leaves many loose ends”.

The principal photography for the film started in March 2022, with the first schedule taking place in Chennai. Nayanthara completed filming her parts by August 14, and the entire shooting process was wrapped up by November 1. Less than a month after its cinema debut, ‘Iraivan’, featuring Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara in lead roles, is set to premiere on an OTT platform. The film will be available on Netflix from 28th October. ‘Iraivan’ portrays a society living in constant fear of a deranged killer, leading to a decline in public trust in the police. The killer is eventually apprehended by Arjun and Andrew, but he manages to escape, bringing chaos back into their lives.
