The Delhi Traffic Police has imposed traffic restrictions in anticipation of the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra,’ which is scheduled to occur at Vijay Chowk on October 30 and 31. In a tweet from the Delhi Traffic Police, it was announced, “Traffic Advisory: Special traffic arrangements have been put in place for the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra’ at Vijay Chowk on October 30 & 31, 2023. Please adhere to the provided advisory.”
This Kalash Yatra is part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh Maha Abhiyan” and serves the purpose of commemorating the sacrifices of the immortal martyrs. The yatra involves collecting soil from the birthplaces of these martyrs and placing it in Amrit Kalash, which is then transported to the National Martyrs Memorial in Delhi. As part of the Amrit Kalash Yatra, an ‘Amrit Vatika’ will be established near the National War Memorial by combining soil and plants sourced from 7,500 urns brought from various regions across the country. The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, dedicated to paying homage to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation, was launched nationwide on August 9, 2023.
Young volunteers and individuals from across the nation will gather soil from Panchayats and Villages and transport it to the Block level. Likewise, soil will be collected from smaller urban areas and transported to larger Municipalities and urban local bodies. Following this, Mitti Kalash, containing soil from Panchayats, Villages, and urban areas, will be conveyed to the National Capital.
